Match 1 vs Roig

Jack and Roig are both played well early in this match. They traded serves to 3-3 and then Jack got the first break to go up 4-3 but was unable to hold his serve as they moved to 4-4. Jack hit a bit of a rough patch with some unforced errors, but managed to stay even at 5-5. Roig jumped out to a 40 love lead but Jack battled back and they played multiple deuces before Jack broke him to go up 6-5, putting himself in a position to serve for the set. With a strong service game Jack closed out the first set 7-5.

Between sets, Roig was penalized a point for racket abuse and while he played a fiery game, Jack broke him to go up one-love. Jack came back with a strong service game to go up 2-0.

In the third game of the second set, both players hit well, but Jack prevailed for another break to take a 3-0 lead. Jack continued his strong play and closed out the game with an ace and a 4-0.

Roig has been unsettled since the racket abuse called and Jack has done a great job of playing steady and taking advantage. He’s now serving for the set 5-0.

Jack closed out the set 6-0 to take the first match.

Way to go, Jack!

I’ll let you know when his next match is scheduled.
